It’s Cuffing Season: Let’s Get Prepared
As the year ends, relationships start to develop. Or not.
Written by Mandie Meier
It’s the end of the year. The air is getting colder. Cuffing season is in full swing. Here’s a musical guide to surviving it, no matter what walk of life you’re on.
For The Lonely
Not everyone is getting into relationships during the colder months. In fact, loads of people spend their time envying other couples. Everyone feels a little lonely sometimes, but that feeling gets heightened by seeking that significant other to spend the holidays with.
But being alone isn’t a bad thing, so don’t get discouraged. They will come, and the timing will be perfect.
Recommended Songs: “Lucy” by Still Woozy, “Make Me Your Queen” by Declan McKenna
For The Independent
There’s those certain people that will always put their own success and happiness before a relationship. These people look at cuffing season as a chance to shine on their own (like every other season). These songs will reassure you that focusing on yourself is okay and even empowering during this time of year.
Recommended Songs: “Crush Culture” by Conan Gray, “Doves In The Wind” by SZA
For The Casual
A lot of people just want flings, especially in college. There’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes, not getting too involved with people is for the best. Listen to songs that motivate you to keep those casual relationships casual, and don’t get too deep in the lovey-dovey hole.
Recommended Songs: “Sex On Fire” by Kings of Leon, “Sleeping With A Friend” by Neon Trees
For The Fully Cuffed
There are all types of fully cuffed couples. Some new because of the season and some old, but thriving. They all have one thing in common: love for each other. These songs will surely keep that spark alive.
Recommended Songs: “Drugs You Should Try It” by Travis Scott, “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton
For The Long Distanced
It’s always hard to be away from your significant other. A lot of couples reunite for the holidays, yet some are left hanging due to distance. Let music remind you that you still have that loved one, even if they’re hundreds of miles away, and the time apart will just make seeing each other again more special than ever.
Recommended Songs: “Forever You and Me” by The Teskey Brothers, “See You Again” by Tyler, The Creator
For The Fading
Inevitably, not every relationship is perfect all the time. Some relationships may see their end during this time of year. Use music to get back on your feet. Also, see For The Independent; it helps.
