After watching “Hereditary” for the first time in high school, a solo and silent car ride home (windows rolled up, of course) in the dark of night was the last thing I wanted to endure. In a frenzy, I found myself listening to the “Frozen” classic “Love is an Open Door” on repeat until I pulled into my driveway. It was not my proudest moment, but the unavoidably chipper, catchy sounds of a children’s movie soundtrack served as the remedy to my post-scary movie dread.

If you’re anything like me and can’t escape that familiar, pit-in-the-stomach anxiety after watching your favorite haunting films this Halloween season, don’t panic! You may not be able to actually call the Ghostbusters to spray under your bed, but you can queue up this playlist that’s anything but bone-chilling. These good vibes are strong enough to make even the monsters, spirits, and ghosts want to boogie. Like a G-rated Halloween Disney film in playlist form, these songs are here to tune out the fear brought on by even the most haunting scenes. Plus, listening to this spooky-without-the-scare playlist can help you keep the Halloween spirit alive while recovering from jump scares galore and definitely beats having “Love is an Open Door” stuck in your head for days on end.
