5 Songs and Their Numerology Meaning

There’s security in having a lucky number. Some people have a specific number they see everywhere, or one that holds certain importance to them. Others just like the way their favorite number sounds. Whichever one you are, here’s five songs to deepen your connection with your lucky number.

“The 1” — Taylor Swift

The number one is considered a leader in numerology; it represents independence and confidence. If you tend to see ones everywhere, or it's just always been your favorite number, it means that you’re strong-willed and ambitious. Consider Taylor Swift's “The 1” if this is you. Her lyrics connect to the numerology of the number one: although reminiscing on what could have been, she sings about a new phase of life that requires her independence. “I guess you never know never know / And it's another day waking up alone.” The strong-willed nature of this number also comes into play in the lyrics, “And if you wanted me, you really should've showed / And if you never bleed, you're never gonna grow / And it's alright now.” Despite feeling rejected, Swift continues to look towards her personal growth.

“22 (OVER S∞∞N)” — Bon Iver

Numerology considers two to be a sensitive and intuitive number. If this number has always resonated with you, it’s because you seek unification and harmony but don’t always stick up for yourself. Bon Iver sings the mantra, “It might be over soon,” in his song “22 (OVER S∞∞N).” This song embraces the meaning of the number two, both in its quiet perception of emotions and encouragement to speak up even if it’s not received (“And then I draw an ear on you / So I can speak into the silence”). The infinity symbol — which appears twice in the song’s title — means timelessness and boundless potential. This, combined with number two’s numerology, shows the duality of his mantra. “7” - Catfish and the Bottlemen

The number seven is perceptive and introspective. It resonates with those who question the world around them, always analyzing situations and their environment. In “7,” Catfish and the Bottlemen’s lead singer Van McCann is painfully aware of the failure of his relationship. He sings, “And I'd beg you, but you know I'm never home / And I'd love you, but I need another year alone.” This song embodies the numerology of seven by showing that sometimes what you know to be true isn’t what you really desire.
