It isn’t a well-hidden secret: Valentine’s day, as commodified as it is, seems to be societally understood as a day for the girls. Pamper your girlfriend or your wife, spend some time and money on flowers and champagne to make her feel as special as she should, take the lead, especially if you’re a man, right? 

Though it’s nice, as a lady, to sit back and relax, women and otherwise femme-presenting people are often stereotyped as submissive.
